Welcome to Good Shepherd Farms — a small, family-run farm in Pylesville, Maryland, where clean food, community, and calling all come together.
We’re Dave and Emily, a husband-and-wife team who never expected to become farmers. In fact, years ago, we would’ve told you this lifestyle wasn’t for us. But in 2020, everything changed. God placed a passion on our hearts to pursue a more intentional, grounded way of life — one that aligned with our values and allowed us to serve others.
That calling led us here, to the farm.
We started with a desire to live more simply, learn new skills, and become more connected to the land — and that quickly grew into something much bigger. Today, Good Shepherd Farms is our full-time focus and the home of a growing community of families who care about where their food comes from.
Every animal we raise and every product we offer is a reflection of that journey. It’s not about doing things fast or cheap — it’s about doing things right. We believe that real food should nourish your body, support your health, and come from sources you trust.
We raise and grow what we sell. That means we know exactly what’s going into your food — because we’ve put it there ourselves. All of our pastures are organically managed. Our chickens are free-range and fed all-natural Dawson Gap Naturals feed. We never use:
Hormones
GMOs
Vaccines
Pesticides or herbicides
Instead, we focus on natural practices, rotational grazing, and animal welfare — because when you care for the land and livestock, the food takes care of itself.
Our faith isn’t just a part of our lives — it’s the foundation of this farm. We believe that God has entrusted us with this land, this work, and this opportunity to care for others through good, honest food. That’s why we name our farm after the Good Shepherd — a reminder of who truly leads and provides.
